Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in American history. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. As senator, she was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare as well as federal de-scheduling cannabis, a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal and the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. She was well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
